Research Interests and Background
Jesse Saywell is an artist and educator who has worked across the country as an actor, director, playwright, and producer.
Career highlights include performances at Arena Stage, Lincoln Center, and the White House, and award-winning performances in BigRiver and Young Frankenstein. His plays have been performed across the country, including DIGNITY, which had its world premiere in 2023 in California. His directing experience spans from classics to new works. He previously served as the Associate Artistic Director of Actors Repertory Theatre of Simi in Simi Valley, California.
Teaching
At Saint Anselm, Jesse serves as the Director of the Anselmian Abbey Players, and teaches courses in acting, directing, playwriting, and theatre history. He is also a scholar of 19th Century American History and 20th Century American politics.
