Using the College brand for fundraising and promotional items is only permitted when specific guidelines are followed due to our trademark licensing agreement and protected assets. By following these processes, we ensure that the Saint Anselm College name and associated likenesses are represented accurately and appropriately.
The College Brand as Intellectual Property
The College brand is Saint Anselm College's intellectual property, and as such, there are specific rules and processes to follow when creating fundraisers or ordering promotional items that bear any aspect of the College's likeness. All members of the College community have a responsibility to protect and promote our brand in a manner consistent with our reputation of academic and civic excellence. Exemplar Associates serves as the College's exclusive trademark licensing agent and protected assets include but are not limited to the following:
- The name of the college and any derivatives of the name
example: Saint Anselm College, Saint A's, St. A's, SAC, etc. - Any and all College logos
example: Institutional, Departmental, Centers, Institutes, etc. - Any and all College buildings and landmarks, their names, and likenesses
example: C-shop, NHIOP, etc. - Any and all words reasonably associated with the College
example: Anselmian - Any and all images reasonably associated with the College
example: photos and videos of campus, Alumni Hall, statues, campus buildings, etc.
Exemplar Associates, a specialized brand stewardship and licensing firm based in Rhode Island, is the college’s exclusive trademark licensing agent. For questions about the Saint Anselm College trademark licensing program, contact licensing@anselm.edu.
NOTE: Any items that utilize any aspect of the Saint Anselm College brand must follow the outlined processes on this page and artwork MUST be approved by College Communications and Marketing prior to publicizing or purchasing. This is not to stifle creativity, rather this is to ensure that orders do not get held up with or blocked by licensing due to unapproved content or issues with design files.
Licensed Vendors
Items utilizing the College's protected assets must be obtained through a licensed vendor and the College's protected assets may not be used to create items to be sold for profit unless that entity has a license to do so.
Licensed vendors follow an approval process overseen by Exemplar Associates and executed by College Communications and Marketing for items using the college brand and by Athletics for items using the athletics brand. When placing orders, it is imperative to grant enough lead time to allow for approval levels.
