Live on stage at the Dana Center at Saint Anselm College, Friday,
November 3, at 7:30 p.m., award-winning author and TV host Peter Funt
takes an entertaining look at how comedic impressions of U.S. presidents
evolved — and their impact on real-life politics — in Playing POTUS.
Based on his new book by the same name, Peter’s multi-media show
features clips, interviews and revealing insights about the presidency and
the comics who speak shtick to power. A columnist for major newspapers
and host of 250 episodes of TV’s iconic “Candid Camera” — started by his
father, Allen Funt — Peter began his career as a journalist at ABC News.
Beginning with Vaughn Meader’s record album “The First Family” in
1962, mimicry has grown during a dozen administrations. From Meader’s
portrayal of JFK as a debonair leader who cherished his rub-uh swan,
to Alec Baldwin’s depiction of Donald Trump as an orange-tinted buffoon,
Americans at times seem more familiar with the screen versions of chief
executives than the politicians themselves. With Joe Biden, impersonators
have been challenged by a divided nation with a fragile sense of humor.
“In scouring presidential libraries and tracking down people who
worked with the early impressionists, the story grew more fascinating,”
explains Peter. “Now that the nation is so divided politically, we see the
affect on how mimics treat presidents.”

Join us for this very special production of The Nutcracker as the Methuen Ballet Ensemble takes the stage at the Dana Center! Methuen Ballet Ensemble, an established local ballet company under the artistic direction of Vanessa Rae Voter, has staged The Nutcracker for over twenty-five years.  

Principal roles are performed by company dancers of Methuen Ballet Ensemble, whose experience totals over 150 years of classical ballet training under Ms. Voter’s tutelage at Voter’s School of Dance. 

This year’s production will also feature very special world renowned professional guest dancers, Emily Entingh and Sabi Varga in the roles of Sugarplum Fairy and Cavalier.

Each year, this production has become more elaborate with stunning visual effects and custom-designed costumes and props. All performances include a giant growing Christmas tree, and an abundance of snowfall.

Ballet Misha is bringing their award-winning production of The Nutcracker to the Dana Center at Saint Anselm College on Saturday, December 16th at 1pm and 6pm and Sunday, December 17th  at 11am and 3pm.   This professional production features a cast of over one hundred dancers with stunning costumes and sets and is choreographed by Director Amy Fortier and Assistant Director Mari Frederique-Streitburger to Tchaikovsky's delightful score.  Ballet Misha's production has been called “The Best Art Event of the Year,” and the “Best Performance of the Year” in NH.  This family favorite performance is a wonderful way to experience the magic of the holidays season.  This season also marks Ballet Misha's 15th anniversary and is sure to be extra festive! 

Tickets are $35 for adults, and $30 for students and children under 18.  

Performances are Saturday December 16th at 1pm and 6pm 

Sunday December 17th at 11am and 3pm.
