Work on Grappone Hall, the future home of the Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences, made excellent progress in 2024.

Following the razing of Poisson Hall in January 2024, the footprint of Grappone Hall quickly took shape. The construction of the newest building on the Saint Anselm campus is right on schedule, with occupancy expected in mid- to late-July 2025.

“In December, work on the exterior of the building was finished, with final masonry completed, metal panels installed and windows hung,” shared Jonathan Woodcock, director of physical plant, in an update. “By buttoning up the outside, subcontractors are able to work on the extensive interior work on the state-of-the-art facility.

While it appears quiet outside, an extensive team of skilled trade people are making great strides on the inside of the facility,” Woodcock continued. “The third floor is currently in round one of painting and the hanging of ceiling grids. Once complete, the final work on utilities, life safety equipment, flooring, and the installation of doors will begin.”

At the same time, construction on the second floor is moving forward: A variety of trade groups are finalizing utilities and insulation ahead of a town of Goffstown inspection. Eckman Construction Co., the general contractor, is expecting to begin the second-floor sheet rock early this month.

Finally, on the first floor, the framing is being completed with various trades installing preliminary utility systems as they are able to move off the second floor and to the first.

At 45,000 square feet, Grappone Hall will provide nursing, community and public health, and health science students with the learning environment and experiences to become the next generation of healthcare leaders. The facility will include a 150-seat auditorium; a public health community space; an 11,000-square-foot simulation center; collaborative learning spaces for kinesiology, anatomy, and physiology; and multi-purpose spaces on two floors for use by community members and students from all across campus to meet and study.

As the weather permits, the construction site will continue to be cleaned and set for spring landscaping in advance of the 2025 Commencement Exercises in May.

The Campaign for the Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences is the largest project-based campaign in the history of Saint Anselm College. Through its ambitious $40 million goal, the Campaign will support the construction of Grappone Hall ($32 million) as well as scholarships and programs ($8 million).
