Professor Peter Josephson, Ph.D., is the recipient of the 2023 Distinguished Faculty Award presented by the Saint Anselm College Chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP). The annual award celebrates a faculty member’s contributions to the College community through teaching excellence and their enduring relationships with both colleagues and students.
This year’s award, presented by Destiny Brady, Ph.D. of the nursing department and president of the Saint Anselm AAUP Chapter, praised Josephson’s commitment to the community over his more than 20 years at the college in the department of politics. Having served as a department chair and faculty senator, Josephson is known by his colleagues as a “productive scholar, excellent teacher, and an advocate for careful consideration and fair judgment.” He is a bastion of the values of a liberal arts education, encouraging student research, cooperation between departments, and engaging in interdisciplinary scholarship of his own.
Josephson has previously held the Richard L. Bready Chair in Ethics, Economics, and the Common Good and received a Boston College Excellence in Teaching Award. In addition to his academic prowess, he is an accomplished actor having twice received the best actor award from the NH Theater Association for his work with Theatre Kapow.
