On May 1, 2023, at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College, Perry Johnson hosted a press conference just two months after his announcement of his 2024 GOP presidential run.
Growing up in Michigan, Johnson explained the struggles he faced in his family. He spoke about becoming a wealthy businessman and his “Two Cent Plan” for America. His platform for his campaign is to fix the economic debt in this country and encourage young voters to support him.
Johnson’s presidential campaign appears to be a longshot. He was questioned by WMUR-TV News 9 Political Director, Adam Sexton, on what his “Two Cent Plan” would entail. Johnson’s ideas cut out the Department of Education to give money back to the parents.
At Johnson’s request, he met with Kevin B. Harrington Student Ambassadors in the New Hampshire Political Library. He asked students why young voters tend to vote for Democratic candidates. The students agreed that while the economic crisis in this country is important, social matters are a large concern for most students.
Johnson also asked about the large debt in student loans and wants to propose ways to cut the college tuition down.
Lastly, students were able to tour Johnson’s campaign bus and sign the back of it, as a memento of his time on the New Hampshire campaign trail.
