Saint Anselm College is excited to announce its newest graduate program through the Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences: a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership and Innovation (MSN) and its associated Post-master’s Certificate in Leadership and Innovation (PMC). The College is actively recruiting the inaugural class, which will begin in fall 2025.*
This unique MSN is an online program providing nurses with contemporary leadership skills and an innovative perspective designed for the ever-changing healthcare landscape.
“This is an exciting time for the Jean School! We are now extending the reach of Anselm Nursing,” said Dean Diane Uzarski, DNP, MPH, RN.
“Our team of faculty and alumni leaders in administration and education came together to design a “real world” MSN program to empower our next generation of nursing leaders.”
The programs will provide nurses with the knowledge to lead effectively and then embrace and leverage improvements to transform care delivery systems and improve patient outcomes. Graduates will learn how to harness data and evidence, cultivate ideas, and implement solutions.
Program Information
The MSN is a 31-credit, part-time program; taking two courses a semester, graduates can complete in as little as five semesters (20 months).
It begins with core courses such as Nursology and Knowledge of the Discipline followed by specialty courses Effective Leadership for Contemporary Nursing leadership and Innovation: a 21st Century Skill.
Additional courses include:
- The Healthcare Industry and the 5 P’s Providers, Populations Served, Places of Delivery, Policy and Payment Mechanisms
- Evidence Based Practice for the Scholarship of the Nursing Discipline
- Quality Improvement Models and Processes
Graduates will be prepared to assume various leadership roles across diverse settings or seek to become an AONL Certified Nurse Manager and Leader® (CNML). Nursing students will also earn 300 practice hours through the MSN and 200 clinical practice hours through the PMC. These may be used toward the completion of a doctorate of nursing practice (DNP) program accredited by the CCNE.
At a time when healthcare staffing shortages are reaching a critical point, and creativity is needed to solve pressing healthcare delivery challenges, it is the Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences’ intention to meet the need by educating the next generation of health providers.
“Our MSN design team prioritized developing a high-quality, market-informed program befitting Saint Anselm’s strong reputation in nursing education,” said Dean Uzarski. “We sought input from over a dozen nurse executives to ensure that we developed a program is highly relevant and responds to today’s challenges in our post-Covid environment.”
The MSN and corresponding PMC is open to all qualified nurses. The application deadline is Aug. 8, 2025.
