CONCORD, N.H. – Former Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey head coach David Flint was inducted to the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey Hall of Fame on Sunday.
Flint and four other members of the New Hampshire ice hockey community were formally enshrined at the Grappone Conference Center as the Class of 2022 and the 20th in the organization's history.
He was apart of the Saint Anselm Department of Atheltics for 11 years, first as an Athletic Trainer and Assistant Coach of the men's ice hockey team before his appointment as the first women's ice hockey coach, which started competing at the varsity level in the 2004-05 season.
Under Flint's guidance, the Hawks skated to an 88-15-2 overall record in four seasons which included a 60-6-2 record in ECAC East contests. Flint's squads captured the ECAC Women's Open Championship crown three times in his four seasons at the helm of the program.
While at Saint Anselm, Flint was named the ECAC East Coach of the Year three times, and was a three-time finalist for National Coach of the Year honor. Flint coached three ECAC East Players of the Year, two Rookies of the Year and one Goaltender of the Year, as well as two AHCA East Region All-Americans.
The native of Merrimack, N.H. has been the head coach of the women's ice hockey team at Northeastern University since the 2008-09 season and owns a 287-137-41 record in 13 seasons of competition. Under Flint's guidance, the Huskies have won five Hockey East tournament championships and made six appearances in the NCAA tournament, finishing as the national runner-up in the 2020-21 season.
Flint was named the AHCA women's ice hockey National Division I Coach of the Year in 2020-21 and has been named the Hockey East Coach of the Year four times and the All-New England Coach of the Year twice. He has also been an assistant coach for the 2010 United States Women's Olympic Team and the 2008 and 2009 United States World Championship teams.
The Northeastern and Saint Anselm women's ice hockey programs met for the first time on Oct. 13, 2021. That contest marked the home opener for the Hawks who made their debut playing at the National Collegiate level in the 2021-22 season.
