MANSFIELD, Mass. – Dominique Engle (Rutland, Mass.) and Trevor Hott (Idaho Falls, Idaho) were selected as nominees for the Northeast-10 Conference Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Thursday.
Eligibility requirements for nomination are that a student-athlete must be in their final year of athletic eligibility, graduating with a degree in May (unless in a master's program), must be enrolled in a full-time course load, and must have a minimum final cumulative grade point average of 3.30. A committee made up of faculty members and athletic administrators conducts voting for the awards. There are 14 nominees for each award bringing the total to 28 nominees across the NE10.
Winners will be announced the night of Thursday, June 9, as part of a pre-recorded live awards show on the NE10's YouTube page.
Hott, who was a co-captain of the Saint Anselm men's ice hockey team, scored two goals and assisted on five others for seven points in 21 games as a senior, all of which are career highs. Hott helped the Hawks defensive corps that allowed just 2.96 goals against per game this season, which is a league-low. He aided the men's ice hockey program to the second seed in the conference postseason.
Hott is a seven-time Saint Anselm Dean's List and NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll selection throughout his career. He was named to the conference's Academic All-Conference roster earlier this spring and was voted as the Saint Anselm Senior Scholar-Athlete earlier in May. Hott is the Saint Anselm male nominee for the NE10 Man of the Year award.
Hott, who is a Physics major, served as the College's President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was the Saint Anselm representative for the NE10. The senior earned the Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award following the 2020-21 academic year.
A five-time Saint Anselm Dean's List and NE10 Commissioner's honor roll selection, Engle aided the women's cross country program to an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Division II East Regional. The senior posted a time of 23:30.1 to finish in 38th overall at the event which marked her collegiate best time in the 6K.
Engle, who is majoring in Psychology with a Spanish minor, is a three-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honoree. Engle was also selected to the NE10 Academic All-Conference team following the fall season.
Engle was part of the first ever Hawks squad that competed as a track & field program in the NE10 Championship in the spring of 2021. Engle finished in eighth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:58.34. Engle competed in all six events this fall for the Hawks and recorded a collegiate best in the 5K at 19.01.51 which was good for a fourth-place finish in the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup on Oct. 2, 2021.
