Beginning next week, CNN will air live from Saint Anselm College’s campus, including Inside Politics with John King and eight town hall forums featuring presidential primary candidates.

“We are pleased once again to extend our Benedictine welcome to the Democratic presidential primary candidates and to showcase our wonderful Hilltop community to a nationally televised audience,” says Dr. Joseph A. Favazza, Saint Anselm College president, of both CNN and ABC Television Network’s arrival on campus.

CNN will hold its town hall forums in the Koonz Theatre of the Dana Center for the Humanities beginning at 8 p.m. on Feb. 5 and 6. The candidates will appear in back-to-back hours and take questions directly from the audience and a CNN moderator. Members of the Saint Anselm community have been offered the opportunity to attend the forums and submit questions to the candidates. Candidates include: Former Vice President Joe Biden, former Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Senator Amy Klobuchar, former Governor Deval Patrick, Senator Bernie Sanders, Tom Steyer, Senator Elizabeth Warren and Andrew Yang.

The network said that additional details, including moderators, will be announced at a later date and added the audience will be comprised of invited New Hampshire Democrats and independents who say they will vote in the Democratic primary, in addition to Saint Anslem College students.

The Dana Center will be CNN’s home for coverage through to the New Hampshire Primary on Tuesday, Feb. 11. They also will use Alumni Hall as a backdrop for election coverage.

For more than 60 years, Saint Anselm has been an active participant in the democratic process, a role that underscores the college’s mission to provide a transformative education that fosters critical thinking skills for its students. The first presidential debate was held at Saint Anselm in 1984 and through the years the college has been proud to play a role in the electoral process through hundreds of talks, forums and other political events. Today, the nonpartisan New Hampshire Institute of Politics continues that political involvement by educating, engaging and empowering citizens to participate in civic and political life.

This is the third time during this presidential primary cycle that CNN has held events at Saint Anselm. On April 22, five of the top Democratic presidential candidates took the stage together for the first time during a youth-focused CNN town hall. Read the story »
