The Anselmian Abbey Players have presented a couple of performances already this semester and look forward to offering their One-Act Plays Nov. 19 and 20.
Last Fri., Oct. 29 and Sat., Oct. 30, the Anselmian Abbey Players presented “Puffs (One Act for Young Wizards). This performance was presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.
Puffs, a play written by Matt Cox, is the story about the neglected house of Harry Potter, the Puffs. This story features characters such as Death Buddy and Blondo Malfoy and is sure to have the audience laughing the entirety of the performance as the audience watches the wizards get into all sorts of trouble during their journey.
“Puffs is a ridiculous, hilarious, and challenging production that was a delight to be a part of.” Said one of the lead actresses, Morganne Mutkoski ’22. “The cast and crew made this show one I will not soon forget, and I am so lucky to have experienced it with them.”
The cast of this production included: Ryan McDonough ’22, Flannery Moore ’24, Erin Golden ’22, Hope Jensen ’25, Jackson Hyam ’24, Courtney Hull ’23, Isabella Petrosino ’24, Emma Link ’25, Grace Trabucchi ’23, Emma Durand ’25, and Morganne Mutkoski ’22.
On Oct. 1, 2021, as a part of Family Weekend festivities, The Abbey Players performed a “Cabaret Night.” The show was full of Broadway’s greatest hits, produced and performed by Saint Anselm students. The night incorporated a variety of songs from Broadway shows and showcased the students' breathtaking talents.
One of the performers, Kennedy Merriam ’22 was excited to take part in her last Cabaret as a graduating senior. She says she is thankful she has expressed her love and passion for theatre through the Cabaret these last four years. “Cabaret is where I met my closest friends and found my voice and comfortability singing on stage in front of others.”
On Nov. 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m., the Abbey Players will direct, produce, and act in their very own one-act plays. The performances are a combination of famous works written by renowned playwrights as well as plays written by Saint Anselm College students. Join the Abbey Players for an exciting night of a variety of plays – comedy and drama at the Dana Center. Performances include: Hello Dear by Alice Gerstenberg, The Incredible True Story by Bryan Lavoie ‘22, and A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle, adapted by Morgan Gould.
