On Friday, June 3, Saint Anselm College kicked off their 2022 Reunion by inducting three classes – 1970, 1971, and 1972 – to the Order of Golden Anselmians – alumni who have celebrated the 50th anniversary of their graduation.
“This afternoon is truly special. Induction into the Order of Golden Anselmians is a milestone event and we are proud to celebrate this event during Reunion Weekend,” said Jim Flanagan, senior vice president and chief advancement officer. “As Goldens, your years of commitment to Saint Anselm College are an inspiration to the entire alumni community. You show us that the Saint Anselm experience is truly one that lasts a lifetime.”
As the first reunion to take place in person since 2019, it was a unique experience with three classes being inducted and celebrated.
“What’s great about this year, for the very first time, we get to reunite with the class before us, and the class after us,” said Bob Savard ’71. “These were our dormmates, our classmates, our teammates, and now we’re all together.”
After their inductions, classes gathered to remember and read the names of their classmates who had passed away. They then gathered with other Golden Anselmians for a memorial mass followed by dinner.
“No other group of alumni shows more loyalty to their alma mater than this group gathered here this evening,” said Joseph A. Favazza, Ph.D., president of Saint Anselm College, at the celebratory dinner. “We appreciate you traveling back to the Hilltop to be part of this special gathering of alumni. You keep our Anselmian heritage strong.”
The Golden Anselmians continued to celebrate their reunion for the rest of the weekend along with other classes. Reunion 2022 is a unique experience. Taking place over back-to-back weekends, three reunion cohorts will come together for the chance to celebrate not only with classmates, but friends outside of their class year. Activities include presentations, meals, and of course, mass at the Abbey Church.
