Saint Anselm College is approved by the NHSAA Office to administer VA Educational Benefits for eligible students. The VA makes eligibility determinations and students that believe they may be eligible for benefits under the GI Bill® should seek determination from the VA.
Veteran's Administration (VA) benefits are not included as educational resources and will not affect a student's eligibility for federal financial aid; however, students are encouraged to use this resource to reduce or eliminate loan debt. VA benefits will be included when determining a student's eligibility for institutional aid and total resources shall not exceed the cost of tuition and fees. This may result in pro-ration of merit scholarship funds.
Saint Anselm College permits any individual admitted to the institution who is entitled to educational assistance under chapter 31, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment, or chapter 33, Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits to attend or participate in the course of education once the individual provides the following documents to the college:
1. a VA Benefit Request Form (Download form below)
AND
2. a certificate of eligibility for entitlement to educational assistance under chapter 31 or 33 (a "certificate of eligibility" can also include a "Statement of Benefits" obtained from the Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) website - eBenefits, or a VAF 28-1905 form for chapter 31 authorization purposes)
Saint Anselm College will not impose any penalty to a covered individual such as: the assessment of late fees, or the denial of access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities. Nor will that covered individual be required to borrow additional funds due to meet his or her financial obligations covered by the VA due to the delayed disbursement funding from VA under chapter 31 or 33. Any covered individual is however responsible for the total financial obligation to Saint Anselm College above the amount of the VA Educational benefit disbursement. Late fees and/or interest charges may be assessed on the balance owed if it is not paid by the due date.
Yellow Ribbon Program
Saint Anselm College has entered into an agreement with the VA to fully fund tuition and fees for students who are eligible for Yellow Ribbon benefits. These costs are covered through GI Bill® funds and contributions from Saint Anselm College. The VA will cover costs up to the yearly maximum benefit. The remaining amount will be evenly split between the college and the VA; however, will not exceed full tuition and fees benefit. Students receiving Yellow Ribbon benefits are not eligible to receive merit or other non-need based aid.
VA Work Study Program
With VA's Work Study Program, GI Bill® students can earn while they learn! The work-study program provides an additional educational assistance allowance to students receiving VA education benefits who attend school three-quarter or more (9+ credits). Students are paid either the state or federal minimum wage, whichever is greater. Services performed under a VA work study program must be related to VA work. Students can work at any VA facility, State Veterans agency, Department of Defense facilities, or even at their school helping the School Certifying Official or fellow Veteran students.
